The Grammar Room, Mehrauli: Come for the Ramen, Stay for the Vibes

A casual hangout in Mehrauli turned into an unexpected visit to The Grammar Room. It started off with the usual “Where should we go next?” and me randomly asking my friend if she’d ever been to Mehrauli. Her “No” was enough reason for us to go.
I’ve already tried a few spots there before and wasn’t in the mood to repeat them. So, we settled on The Grammar Room—because
a) there was a table available for two on a weekend (rare!), and
b) I remembered people raving about their vibe and food.
As we walked in, the café felt cozy, sunlit, and lively, with just the perfect empty corner seat waiting for us. It honestly felt like it had been reserved for us. What we loved instantly was the natural sunlight pouring in and the calm, breezy ambience.
Now, with a name like The Grammar Room, I genuinely thought we might spot bookshelves or some school grammar references. And guess what—we did (sort of)!
There was a little “Grammar Room Guidebook” with quirky little notes and rules (not actual grammar lessons, unfortunately 😂). It had about 8 points and definitely added a unique character to the place.
We scanned the QR menu and got to ordering. Here's what we tried:
What We Ordered:
Large Plates
🧡 Cotton Tofu Ramen
Dry ramen with shoyu cotton tofu, steamed beans & scallions in a peanut butter tare broth, topped with nori crisps.
This. Was. Heaven. Legit the best ramen I’ve had in Delhi—smooth, flavorful, and comforting in all the right ways. Every bite was a “wow” moment. If you’re a ramen lover or even a first-timer, start here. I’m still dreaming about it.
(Also—if you know any amazing ramen spots in Delhi, drop them in the comments. I need more!)
Small Plates
💔 Sushi Tostada
Nori frites with scallion sushi rice, pickled seaweed, kewpie mayo and gari.
Umm… hard pass. The base tasted like palak patta chaat (and not in a good way), and the topping was just off. The oil used was overwhelming, and my friend legit almost puked. We expected better, especially from a place that checks its grammar, but this dish needs a serious rewrite.
Beverages
💚 Matcha Iced Latte
Superior matcha, oat milk.
We’d never tried matcha before and thought this hyped café would be the best place to start. Well... never again. It tasted like cold, watered-down green tea. We both took one sip and said, “Yuck, kya bakwaas hai yeh.”
(But in true girl fashion, we still send each other aesthetic matcha reels—maybe one day we’ll get the hype. Just not today.)
💖 Pink Punch Smoothie
Raspberries, mango, coconut milk, banana.
This smoothie was thicker than thick—like, jawline-sculpting thick. We joked that we’d have defined cheekbones by the time we were done sipping it. Sadly, it was too dense to enjoy. We gave up halfway.
Final Thoughts
To sum it up:
✔️ Great vibes
✔️ Cozy sunlit seating
✔️ Outstanding ramen
❌ Drinks were a disaster
❌ Sushi tostada was a mistake
Would I go back? Probably not. The ramen was worth it—but when only 1 out of 4 items hits, it’s not enough to tempt a revisit. That said, if you’re a ramen hunter and love good lighting for pictures—add this to your list.
Also, brownie points for their quirky little grammar guidebook and the vibe overall.
📸 P.S. The pictures turned out stunning, thanks to all that natural light. So... Instagram content = ✅
